Melanie Formosa, program director and president of WUSB FM with wide-ranging experience, has won the 2023 Martin Buskin Award for Outstanding Campus Journalism.
Formosa will receive a check for $1,000 and be cited at the School of Communication and Journalism’s Majors and Minors Banquet on May 4. Her name will also be added to the plaque in the Newsroom that bears the names of Buskin Award winners since 1977.
Shortly after Formosa graduates summa cum laude with a degree in journalism and a minor in environmental humanities, she will travel to London to work at Times Radio for six weeks as this year’s Marie Colvin fellow, offered through the Marie Colvin Center for International Reporting. When she returns, Melanie will continue working as a studio technician at Newsday.
