Michelle Karim, a journalism and political science senior at Stony Brook University, has been named the 2017 Martin Buskin Award for Campus Journalism winner.
Karim is managing editor of The Stony Brook Press, a monthly campus publication, where she has demonstrated exceptional leadership, particularly during breaking news situations. She also writes for the publication.
The Martin Buskin Awards for Campus Journalism are presented to student journalists whose work demonstrates a commitment to excellence through leadership in campus journalism, outstanding work and/or impact on the Stony Brook community. They honor the memory of Martin Buskin, the late education editor of Newsday and adjunct professor of journalism at Stony Brook.
The awards are selected by the Buskin Committee for Outstanding Campus Journalism.
