
Michelle Grisales, recent news editor of the The Statesman, has won the 2026 Martin Buskin Award for Outstanding Campus Journalism.
Grisales, who also won numerous other awards at the School of Communication and Journalism Scholarships and Awards Reception at the Wang Center Zodiac Gallery on April 29, received a check for $1,000. Her name will be added to the plaque in the Newsroom that bears the names of Buskin Award winners since 1977.
After graduating as a journalism major in May, Grisales spent two weeks in Berlin through the Journalism Without Walls Program funded by the Marie Colvin Center. She is now an intern an Lohud.com, a USA Today affiliate and her local newspaper, through the SUNY Institute for Local News.
